Weston Favell shopping centre have chosen their 2017 Charity of the Year
PUBLISHED ON 18th APRIL 2017
Weston Favell shopping centre is delighted to have chosen Thomas’s Fund to be their Charity of the Year for 2017/2018.
Thomas's Fund works across Northamptonshire to provide music therapy to children and young people, who sadly have life limiting illnesses and often profoundly disabled. They also work within the children’s wards in Northampton and Kettering’s General Hospital’s. Weston Favell shopping centre is central to the area that Thomas’s Fund covers, so this collaboration will help raise awareness of the charity to a wider audience and hopefully encourage fundraising.
As a small charity, run by a voluntary group of people, Thomas’s Fund are always very grateful when big organisations get involved, as they need to raise in excess of £80,000 per year to provide their services. The service Thomas’s Fund provides is not available anywhere else in the county, making donations vital to their cause.
It is also an extra special year for Thomas’s Fund as they are celebrating their 10-year anniversary in September and will be arranging a celebratory concert in October and a special family day for all families, past and present.
We felt the hard work and dedication Thomas’s Fund display in Northamptonshire was deserving of further assistance and a fantastic opportunity to help in any way we can.
We chose our Charity of the Year by asking staff, customers and tenants for their suggestions and Thomas’s Fund was the cause that had the most interest and recommendation.
We are already in discussions with the charities fundraisers to put together a calendar of events we can offer or be involved with throughout the year. Suggestions so far include a sponsored walk, a quiz night and various fundraising events within the centre.
